We kickstarted Combain as a research project at Sony Ericsson back in 2006 because we wanted to improve mobile positioning and reduce the need for power-hungry GNSS calculations. By 2009, we could spin out the project and form Combain Mobile AB to make global location solutions accessible to everyone.
Ever since, our mission has been simple: to locate everything, everywhere. Our innovative, cutting-edge positioning tech is taking things further, establishing us as leaders in seamless indoor and outdoor global positioning.

Passion for positioning
Combain started as a research project at Sony Ericsson in 2006. It focused on developing advanced positioning algorithms and creating a comprehensive Cell ID database to reduce the need for power-hungry GNSS calculations in devices.
Our passion for improving location-based services through mobile positioning led to the establishment of Combain Mobile AB in 2009. This company launched Location-API.com as an innovative mobile positioning cloud service. This initiative quickly attracted customers interested in tracking valuable goods and has since evolved into the highly efficient Combain Location API.

Our vision is to locate everything everywhere. We continuously strive toward this goal by developing accurate, low-cost, global positioning services based on radio technology. We believe in the power of radio, IoT, M2M, cloud services, crowdsourcing, machine learning/AI, and big data analysis. We aim to be the leader in global indoor and outdoor positioning.
Today, our team has developed advanced positioning algorithms that deliver exceptional location accuracy and has built one of the world’s largest positioning databases. We continue to conduct research targeting global self-learning indoor positioning and navigation in collaboration with Lund University.

Location is everything
Combain is located in Ideon Research Park in Lund, Sweden, strategically positioned near Lund University and major telecom companies such as Ericsson, Nokia, and Huawei. Our primary research and development (R&D) is in Sweden, complemented by our development office in India. Additionally, we maintain an office in Palo Alto, CA, to stay connected with our customers and keep up with the latest technological advancements in Silicon Valley.
Our management team possesses extensive experience in the telecom industry and cloud-based solutions. In 2015, Combain was recognized as one of Sweden’s 33 most promising tech companies and received the Red Herring Top 100 Europe award. We have experienced steady growth each year, have been profitable since 2012, and are self-funded. We are also fortunate to have knowledgeable business advisors in relevant fields.

Our algorithms, developed over two decades of research, provide world-class accuracy. Björn Lindquist
CEO & Co-founder
Björn co-founded Combain Mobile AB in 2009 to address the rapidly growing demand for mobile positioning solutions.
Prior to Combain, Björn held many senior management positions in Sony Ericsson and Ericsson, such as VP Technology & Research (Sweden), VP Technology Strategy CTO Office (Sweden), VP Product Development DU Americas (USA), and Director Product Development (Sweden).
Rikard Windh
COO & Co-founder
Rikard was also a co-founder of Combain and leads the sales and business development in Combain Mobile AB. Prior to Combain, Rikard has experience from global sales management in Teleca (Sweden and Greater China) and Obigo AB as well as programming experience.
