Account verification

After the registration, we will send a verification email to your account (if you do not receive it, please check your SPAM account). You should open the email, click on “Click here to activate your account” and follow the instructions on the email in order to verify your account.

Create Building

First step is to create a building for your 3D indoor positioning. When you create a building you will be able to choose floors, add features and building models. With a building or area, you can see floor plans and start creating surveys or models for positioning coverage.

Step-By-Step

Log in and go to places, then select Add New
Enter the adress or building name for the building you would like to add. Select the building and click add new when the area is filled with blue.
Enter name, visibility and floor if necessary. You can choose different kind of types, “Building” and “Area“. For instance, area could be more useful for a campus or larger region.
Click Save

Create Building Model

There are two different kind of methods to create a building model.

The first method is to insert WIFIs and BLE beacons manually, which you can follow the steps below. The second method is to make a survey and can be find on the “Make a survey” tab. It is important to have a model so you can get data for a good RF coverage and low median error. With more BLE and WIFI beacons you will get a better coverage of the indoor positioning.

Step-By-Step

Go to your building and select positioning. Check so you have the correct floor.
Click on Edit Mode and go to models.
Click on the three dots in to top right corner of models and add new model.
Create your model and then select it on the left side of it. Go then back to add new and pick either BLE or WIFI beacons. Place them on the map in the correct location.
Save and publish your model. Publish it by go to the three dots and click publish.

Make a survey

Make an Indoor Survey with Combain Indoor

Click Start Indoor Survey and follow the instructions.

Place reference points – When performing a survey, the app is continuously scanning for Wi-Fis and BLEs. To help the system understand where you are, you click ‘+’ icon to place reference points. You have to pan and zoom so the crosshair is at your IRL current physical location. The more accurate you are, the more precise indoor positioning.
End the survey and wait for the building model to be automatically published. An email is sent out to the Admin of the account when the new building model is published. Normally takes 1-2 minutes.

Upload Building Model with CSV file

Upload a building model via CSV file

If you have a previous building model that you want to apply to current building. This is a way to skip creating a building model from scratch. Follow the instructions below to see how you can upload your model to current building.

Step-By-Step

Check so your building model is saved as a CSV-file. If it isn’t a CSV-file, save it again but as a CSV-file instead.
Go to your building and positioning and models.
Click on Edit and you can find Upload button by the three dots.
Find and upload your CSV-file. When it is uploaded, remember to publish it.
Save your file by clicking save on the bottom of your screen.

Start Indoor Positioning

Now you can start using indoor positioning with either Combain Location API or Combain SDK.

Combain SDK is most common and best suited for a app, while Combain Location API is a way to get better indoor positioning on your devices.
